Throughout our investigations we have encountered an anomaly that is invisible to the naked eye but is captured by camera.
They appear as dense fogs that seem to move very quickly. It is quite often found that if a second photo is taken immediately after one which is showing a mist, it will have dissapeared in the second photo leaving no trace.
Some schools of thought say that these mists are naturally occuring fogs caused by changing atmospheric conditions whereas others say that they are spent electrical charges given off into the atmosphere through natural processes.
It has been said that the mists are spirits in a motionless state but as it has been shown in photographs that they can be there in one instance and gone in the next they are not really motionless. It is also thought that they may enter this state during the process of manifestation. Figures are often seen in these mists.
Mists can be detected with lasers as when it crosses the laser beam it becomes visible. We have seen this when we have been using our infrared thermometre which uses a laser. The same effect can also be seen with smoke so it is important that when investigating a number of precautions are taken to rule out possible causing factors.
It is best not to smoke on investigations as smoke can appear as a mist in photos
.
An ecto mist is likely if the humidity of the area is low but the air temperature not low enough to cause precipitation and visible breath.
Where a photograph is taken that captures a mist in a low temperature, try to recreate that mist to compare the two photos.
When actually taking the photos, also try holding your breath and asking others around you to do so to reduce the possibility of a mist being caused by breath. It is always important in an investigation to note all of the environmental factors around you and how each may be effecting things that are experienced or seen.
Most of our pictures containing mists have been captured in the Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe. These stay at a constant temperature of about 9 degrees and although there is some water seepage through the chalk, the humidity is low. They can be spotted all through the caves, not in any one place and we have seen figures in a number of them.
